Scrapbook a Gift

Did you know that you can give somebody a wonderful gift by putting some thought into it and making it yourself. Using your scrapbooking skills you can come up with something extra special.

You can make wonderful gifts using your scrapbooking skills, including framed collages, cards, mini albums and gift boxes. Not only will you impress that special person in your life with your skills, but it will usually be a unique creation that they will be able to cherish forever. Here are some tips you can try when making your gifts.

Mini Booklets

Mini booklets or albums can be made from scratch or bought from your craft shop already made, and you will just need to add your photographs. Mother's day, Father's day and Grandparent's birthdays are ideal occasions to give a mini album.

Gift Boxes

Gift boxes that are decorated by you can be used to keep mementos or jewelery in. You could also fill a decorated gift box with special photographs or poems that relate to the person that you are giving it to. A gift box with photo's inside that open concertina style of a special occasion is something that can be cherished forever. It is something that I will cherish forever.

Cards

Scrapbooking and card making techniques are very similar and making cards is a great way to use up all your left over scraps from your scrapbooking projects. A homemade card is always far more appreciated than a bought one, and you will also save a bundle.

Framed Pictures

A beautiful scrapbook page that has been framed makes a wonderful gift. Grandparents always enjoy getting photo's of their grandchildren, so why not do a lovely page of all the best photo's and frame it with a frame to compliment the décor in their house.

Clocks

Another beautiful gift that can be made is a wall clock. Buy a clock kit from your local craft store and everything should be included to make a functioning clock. Place the photo's of your choice behind the face of the clock and embellish as you wish. All you need to do then, is have the clock framed and there you have a unique and useful gift for someone special.

When you make somebody a gift, make sure that if it is a clock or framed picture that it will go with or compliment the decor in their home. It is no use giving somebody a purple clock if their home is all done in mutual colors, or your clock could end up hiding up in a wardrobe somewhere.

Top 10 Hollywood Gowns That Would Make Lovely Bridesmaid Dresses

Nearly every woman in this entire planet looks up to Hollywood for gowns and dress ideas. After all, there is no other epitome for class, sophistication and elegance than these Hollywood femme fatales. Over the years, even the bridesmaid dresses have taken a new turn. Bridesmaid dresses styles have shifted from froufrou, pearls and bows to slits, sweetheart necklines, bare backs and diamonds. This turn in fashion could be largely attributed to what Hollywood celebrities wear dudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring awarding ceremonies or on the big screen. Let us get a glimpse of ten of the best Hollywood celebrities' gowns that have the potential to be a sweet, sophisticated bridesmaid dress.

1. Penelope Cruz' intricate blush Atelier Versace gown, topped with a sweeping train was a sight to behold during the 2007 Academy Awards. This charming evening dress, in the right shade, would make lovely bridesmaid dresses. However, you have to get rid of the sweeping train and you ought to make sure you don't have it made in white. Otherwise, with its elaborate details, it would end up looking like a wedding dress for sure.

2. Also worn during the 2007 Academy Awards was Cate Blanchett's shimmering silver crystal-mesh Giorgio Armani Privé gown. This gown may seem a bit to sophisticated to be worn as bridesmaid dresses, but with a few alterations in its shade and cut, you could make it work out. This would make one heck of a stunning bridesmaid dress.

3. Anne Hathaway's blood red Marchesa dress was a looker during the Oscars 2008 Awards Night. The asymmetrical draped gown with floral shoulder and waist detail was, simply put, captivating. This would also make a great bridesmaid dress - minus the extravagant train and the bold color, of course.

4. Jennifer Lopez in her crystal-encrusted lilac silk Marchesa gown was a vision reminiscent of '60s-era glamour girls. You too could wear this exquisitely, with a few alterations, such as minimizing the crystal works on your neckline.

5. The Vintage Versace gown Kate Hudson wore for the 2003 Academy Awards created such a stir. A simple yet stunning vintage dress, you could recreate the look as a bridesmaid dress. Just change the shade, though. You might look like you sew together pieces of wedding invitations.

6. Michelle William's canary yellow, Vera Wang evening gown is luscious enough to make the list. Despite the controversy with its color and cut, many critiques agree that this dress was definitely noteworthy. This would make lovely bridesmaid dresses too.

7. The 2008 Oscar Awards saw quite a number of lovely evening dresses. One of those was Renee Zellweger's sparkling, floor-length Carolina Herrera gown. This would make a sexy, sweet bridesmaid dress, minus the extravagant slit, of course.

8. For a more bohemian look, Sienna Miller's 2004 Oscars dress should do the trick. Her emerald green dress and gold cuffs looked refreshingly lovely. This dress by Matthew Williamson would definitely make standout bridesmaid dresses.

9. During the 2001 Oscar Awards, Julia Roberts wowed the audience with her Valentino monochrome gown. This gown had made a huge impact on the world of bridesmaid dresses since.

10. Kate Winslet's Ben de Lisi red gown also became influential when it comes to bridesmaid dresses designs.

Karen and Guys Tipi Wedding

Pinewood Holiday Park, in Scarborough North Yorkshire, hosted it's first wedding reception/party on Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th April 2010. Dave and Kerry, owners at Pinewood, were honoured to share a truely memorable occasion with Karen and Guy - the bride and groom. Karen and Guy organised a fish and chip van, bouncy castles, a local band, and hog roast, and their guests, both locals and those who had travelled long distances, really enjoyed celebrating this unsual, laid back wedding with their freinds and family. Toasting marshmallows on the camp fire was also popular. A truely unique, memorable, environmentally friendly way to celebrate a wedding. Love and best wishes for the future to Karen and Guy and their lovely children from everyone at Pinewood Holiday Park.

Lovely Fall Bridesmaid Dresses

Fall will be here before you know it, so if you have not yet ordered the bridesmaid dresses for your autumn wedding, now is the time! The styles for fall are different than those you might choose for a summer wedding; they tend to be richer and more understated. Here are some suggestions on how to pick the loveliest bridesmaid dresses for your fall wedding.

No matter when your wedding is going to be, one of the most important factors when dress shopping is determining the level of formality that you want. If you are planning an evening wedding, then floor length bridesmaid dresses will look the most elegant. Daytime weddings will have more flexibility. For fairly traditional weddings, long dresses will tend to be the most classic choice, although tea length can also work well if the bride is weadiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring a gown with only a short train. If you are having a relaxed rustic style autumn wedding, your bridesmaids can definitely get away with knee length dresses, which most attendants prefer anyway.

Fabric is one of the things that gives an autumn dress the richness that suits the season. Wispy chiffons and organzas are wonderful for the summer months, but they are too insubstantial for chillier weather. Turn to weightier materials like satin, dupioni or shantung, or even a luxurious brocade. Think about incorporating other warm and cozy fabrics like cashmere or mohair in the form of wraps to wear with the bridesmaid dresses.

In terms of style, almost anything goes, as long as it is not too bare for the chillier fall months. If you are planning on strapless bridesmaid dresses, they should definitely be accessorized with wraps or shawls. Spaghetti straps are okay for fall, but a wider strap or even a halter would be a bit more seasonal. Another idea is to choose dresses that tie in with the one shoulder trend that is all the rage right now. This would be a stunning style for a formal wedding when interpreted in a rich copper satin fabric.

Speaking of color, this is really where you can give your bridesmaid dresses an autumnal flair. It is best to stay away from light pastels, and instead go with hues that have some depth and richness to them. Chocolate brown, burgundy, and bronze are some of the most gorgeous fall colors. You can also think about selecting a bridesmaid dress in a color like deep yellow or sage green that is not dark, but that has the right richness for fall.

The perfect bridesmaid dresses deserve the perfect accessories. Sets of customized bridesmaid jewelry make wonderful gifts from the bride. You can have bridesmaid jewelry sets handcrafted in Swarovski crystals or pearls to match the color of the dresses your attendants will be weadiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring. Also think about their shoes. While it is really better to allow each attendant to choose the shoes that she finds most comfortable, for a later fall wedding, you might want to request that your bridesmaids wear closed toe shoes. There are many fabulous options beyond basic pumps or flats, including mules, slingbacks, and D'orsay pumps.

The warmth of autumn makes it a beautiful time to have your wedding. Your bridesmaid dresses should also strive to capture the richness and texture of the season in terms of color, fabric, and style. With these tips in mind, you will be sure to find absolutely stunning dresses for your bridesmaids that will enhance the style of your wedding.

Explore the World of Good Quality Photography With Digital Cameras

Digital cameras have brought nothing short of a revolution in the world of photography. There is a great range of choice and new innovative models are being introduced everyday. With these cameras it is now possible for all to take good pictures. However, there are certain points to be ascertained before you can become an expert in clicking pictures. Some important points to remember before you click the shutter are discussed here.

1. Be sure of the purpose of the picture: You could tell stories with your photographs. The photo you are about to take could be one in a series, maybe of a seminar, function or travel. Find its place before you click and ask yourself what you are trying to convey through this shot.

2. Decide the focal point of the picture: Here you need to know what is the main point of the picture that you would like your audience to see? Concentrate on the focal point and if there are competing focal points then decide if you want to include them or if they take away the limelight from your focal point. Digital cameras can be zoomed in to concentrate on exactly what you would like to come in the picture. Remove the clutter or take separate photos of the different focal points. However, some secondary focal points can actually lend class to your photograph.

3. A good background and a foreground: This is undoubtedly required to make a good picture. Having a good foreground is not enough; a fitting background should complement the foreground. Ascertain before you click that the lovely foreground also has an equally good background.

4. Too small or too big subjects: Clicking pictures with very small subjects is very common in digital photography and you realize only after the picture has been clicked. Sometimes if you click from too close some parts of your picture could be below or above the picture vision and get cut off. Maintain a good distance from the subject that is not too close and not too far for a perfect picture.

5. Light is of prime importance: Determine the source of light and whether it is sufficient for the picture. If not then arrange for a supplementary source of light. In digital cameras it is possible to adjust light settings and make even night pictures look bright.

6. Make your pictures stand out: Click pictures that are a little unusual from the rest. Do not follow other photographers and take the same regular shot however good. Make a few changes in perspective and then click something that is different from the rest.

7. Avoid inclined angles and sloping: Some of us have the habit of taking pictures that have people looking slightly bent or leaning. The sloping needs to be avoided unless there is a purpose. Keep your camera straight before you aim.

Digital cameras provide the scope for taking excellent pictures. They also make it possible for the photographer to make changes to the picture. In this way some good pictures marred by a few unbecoming flaws can be sorted out. Choose from the wide variety of cameras available now by keeping in view your requirements.

The Perfect Theme For a Perfect Wedding

One of the easiest ways to make a wedding memorable is to have a theme. Themes can be humorous, cultural, seasonal, venue-inspired or downright crazy but one thing they do is make your wedding unique and unforgettable. This is because although themes may be alike, each person's interpretation of the theme is different.

Wedding themes are chosen for the main reasons of accessibility of resources and materials. Accessibility of resources literally means the cost of implementing the said theme - how expensive it will be to bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring to life the theme of a carnival at your wedding, for instance. Accessibility of materials means the availability of the necessary decorating materials to create your theme wedding. Bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ringing in snow, for example, when you marry in summer may be a lot less appealing when you consider the extreme difficulty of creating the snow.

Here are a few examples of wedding themes:

- Seasonal themes - This is based on the four seasons, spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring, summer, autumn and winter. If an autumn wedding is chosen then decor such as maple leaves are used as well as honey and golden colors are used for other decors. Spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring wedding would warrant lots of flowers. Sunset wedding also falls into this category as the wedding will be held during sunset especially the exchange of vows.

- Venue-inspired themes. This is the kind of wedding the uses the venue as the theme. Such themes are the beach wedding, castle wedding and garden wedding.

- Cultural themes. It is interesting to see the different culture and through cultural theme wedding, guests are invited to experience them. Some popular cultural theme weddings are Indian summer wedding, Scottish wedding or Eastern wedding. Cultural wedding is usually adopted when it is a cross-cultural wedding.

- Humorous themes - This is the theme that will bring out fun and humor for the wedding. It could be anything from fancy dress such as the Retro theme, The Seventies, Halloween, Medieval Times and The Wild West.

- Color themes. Color themed wedding can be interesting as it is up to one's creativity to use the chose color or colors. Themes like Goth or psychedelic are derived from color theme wedding.

- Extreme weddings. For the very adventurous are extreme wedding themes. These include the likes of underwater weddings, bungee-jumping points or mid-air weddings. More often than not, the couples who opts for extreme weddings are the outdoor type and would settle for anything ordinary.

A successful implementation of a theme lies solely on your hard work and creativity. When you are willing to put in that extra effort, you will see paid off in a form of contentment. For instance, you don't need to paint the whole venue blue if the color blue is your theme; instead, you can use disposable wall paper or blue ribbons and bows and even flowers to grace the walls. If you need to do some major modifications to the venue, be sure you have the approval of the owner.

To be able to carry out the theme without faultless requires a great deal of work. That is why it is best to choose one close to your heart or your spouse's. The themes chosen would usually revolved around hobbies or favorite pass time. For instance, a couple who loves football can choose this as their wedding theme. That way both can plan and think of creative ways to portray their love to each other through football.

Another popular theme wedding is one that is based on your careers. If both you and your spouse are in the financial sector, using a Money theme can be suitable while a Lounge theme is appropriate for couples who are in the media or entertainment industries. Otherwise, go totally different and have a theme wedding that has absolutely nothing to do with your careers.

If it is too difficult to merge two different careers, then pick a common interest - a love for cars, for instance, or a compulsion to travel.

When you choose a theme, remember, a great one is the one that is meaningful to both of you. It is one of the biggest day in your life so strive to make is a memorable one.

On Picnic Wedding Ideas - Elegant Table Decorations

More and more couples are finding more ways to break away from traditional wedding receptions and a lot of them have discovered that a picnic wedding is a lovely alternative. The picnic can be held in various locations like at the beach-side or in a field. Whatever location you choose, it is important that you decorate tabletops that will reflect the theme and style of your wedding. A lot of table reception decorations can be done at home. All you need is a little time and a lot of creativity.

Here are some table top ideas for your lovely picnic wedding:

Tablecloths. Picnics are always casual affairs and your guests may come in their best casual clothes or in semi-casual attire. Your tablecloths, then, should match the attire of your guests. It would obviously be inappropriate to use fine tablecloths for your reception since, again, it's a casual affair. For your picnic wedding, you can opt for simple colored tablecloths. You can choose tablecloths in your wedding colors, or you can simply use the traditional color for picnic tablecloths-red gingham checkered tablecloths. Using the traditional colors will always bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring the picnic ambience to your occasion.

Flowers. Try to avoid extravagant flower arrangements since picnic weddings are of rustic nature. Choose flowers that have simple earth tones to decorate your tables. Sunflowers are always "happy" flowers because of its color; daisies are like smaller sunflowers in different colors; and black-eyes Susans are also best bets. Try to stay away from crystal vases because they will not go perfectly with your picnic theme. If you want, you can use mason jars to hold your flowers and have them put strategically in different locations in your picnic area. Colored ribbons tied neatly in a bow will be best decorations for these jars.

Napkins and Plates. Just like the flowers and your table decorations, it would always be best to avoid using anything that is used in a formal reception table. You can even use paper napkins and plates, depending on how casual you want your picnic wedding to be. If you want to be a bit formal while being "picnic-y" in style, then choose gingham-printed cloth napkins and Chinet brand plates. They are perfect for your picnic wedding.

Autumn Leaves. These are perfect decorations for your simple picnic wedding. This would, obviously, depend on the season of your picnic. Using a shallow platter, fill it up with autumn leaves and place a mason jar and a couple of candles in the middle of the platter. This can be a very timely and themed center piece to finish off the picnic touch in your table.

Edible Centerpieces. Food is always the focus of any picnic, even in your wedding. Since this is so, you can use edible arrangements as your centrepiece which coincides perfectly with your theme. You can use bowls or baskets of fruit or a tiered veggie tray can also be perfect. Just make sure that there aren't any flies in your picnic area.

Decorative Fans For Weddings

Fans can be a lovely accent for a wedding. They are attractive, romantic, and can help your guests to stay cool on a hot day. These are some of the many ways in which you can include decorative fans in your wedding.

Using fans as both practical and decorative elements is a big trend for both summer and beach weddings. Part of their appeal is that they are available in a variety of materials and forms to suit your personal wedding taste. Fans are definitely feminine in a slightly old-fashioned way. They are perfect for the sort of weddings where brides is wear lace gowns and vintage inspired bridal jewelry sets. But even brides who prefer their gowns and sets of bridal jewelry to have a more streamlined flair can still find pretty fans which will complement the style of their weddings.

There are fabric fans, paper fans, and sandalwood fans. There are fans which are flat in a paddle shape, and fans which open and close. Fans can be very simple with minimal detailing, or they can be elaborately painted with nature scenes and flowers. For this reason, brides with a wide variety of tastes are finding that they can use fans in their weddings.

The most basic way in which to use a fan is to set it on each seat at the ceremony. Another option is to place a basket with fans at the entrance to the ceremony location (realistically, the male guests probably won't want to use a fan anyway). This is a very thoughtful touch if you are having an outdoor wedding service in a warm climate. The fans are great for creating a refreshing breeze and they can also be handy for waving off bugs attracted to the perfume of the guests. You can choose fans with a pretty design for this purpose, or select plain paper fans which can be customized.

Wedding fans which are customized can serve double duty. For instance, if you chose paper paddle shaped fans, they could be embellished with your wedding motif and the date of your wedding. A simple welcome message can also be printed on the fans to give out dudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring the ceremony. If you really want to get clever, a brief wedding program can be printed on the fans to kill two birds with one stone. They make a sweet souvenir from your ceremony.

Fans are also popular for use at wedding receptions in the summer months. A decorative fan set at each place setting can be printed with the wedding menu. Choose fans which tie in with the color scheme of your wedding reception to make them really look great. This will be a hit at outdoor or tented receptions. Very fancy fans can also be lovely wedding favors. Look for silk fans which are painted with beautiful scenes and embellished with tassels.

There are so many ways in which fans can be used at summer or beach weddings. With a little creativity, you can include fans which will both make your wedding more beautiful and your guests more comfortable. Now that is a win-win!

How Wedding Poetry Brighten Up The Ceremony

It's always lovely to have the traditional best man and matron of honor speeches, as well as listening to the father's of the bride and groom tell a few funny tales. To really set the romantic mood and remind your guests what love is all about, why not select some beautiful wedding poetry to brighten up the ceremony and reception? Poetry is a lovely way to express what the union of marriage means to you as well as talk about love, commitment and happiness.

Poets such as Robert Graves, Stuart Macfarlane, William Cartwright and Dallas Fisher know how to capture the essence of love with words. It can be difficult for someone who is not a literary expert to come up with something romantic and poetic themselves, but what you need to say is likely to have already been written for you by another poet. Don't let your wedding go without that special romantic touch because you can't think of anything to say; use wedding poetry instead so your partner knows how you really feel.

Your wedding day is a time to tell the world how you feel and why you are making a life long commitment to someone you love. There are so many wedding poems to suit countless situations and couples you are bound to find one that is right for you. Traditionally, poetry was always included in wedding ceremonies but over time the tradition has been somewhat lost and along with it some of the romance of ceremonies has been lost too. It isn't too late, and you can make yours have that extra loving touch. You can buy a book of love poems or look on the internet where there are literally thousands of databases for love and wedding poetry.

If your wedding is in a church, don't be afraid to ask if you can customize the ceremony. While it is a lovely thing to be married by the same catholic priest who wed your parents and your cousins, you don't have to have the exact same scripting. Find your favored poems first then approach the priest to let him know where you would like them added and who you would like to read them. In most cases, there will be no problem with putting pretty wedding poetry into the proceedings.

It is the flow and pace of poetry along with the tempting way the outcomes aren't revealed until the end that can make them so pleasurable to listen to. Try not to pick wedding poems that are too complex or difficult for the average person to understand because you want everyone to enjoy them, and make sure the reader is well practiced and slow paced. It's a nice balance to have a poem at the beginning, one or two in the middle and one at the end of the ceremony, as a guide.

Whether poetry is your favorite thing or not isn't the point, it's the mood created by reading wedding poetry that makes the concept so attractive. What better opportunity could there be in life to appreciate the flowing beauty of poetic words than on a wedding day? If you or someone you know is planning a wedding, spend some time getting lost in the words of some love poems and you will be sure to agree that wedding poems are a must for every ceremony.

Tips For Planning a Summer Wedding

One of the most interesting weddings is an outdoor summer event. Usually held between May and September, a summer wedding is traditionally less formal that those held indoors. However, a summer wedding will have its own considerations.

Weather can become an issue very quickly in the middle of summer. You can easily find yourself in the middle of a rainstorm dudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring your vows. You must consider the climate and possible weather beforehand so you can make arrangements if it should rain or storm.

Your wedding gown will also need special attention. Obviously, the middle of summer is quite warm. Consider sleeveless gowns or dresses of shorter lengths. The shoes you wear also need to be chosen carefully, as you don't want heels sinking into the ground. If your wedding is on the beach, shoes will be required as well so you don't burn your feet on the hot sand!

Another consideration is for your wedding photos. You'll need to be sure the photographer bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">rings lighting equipment as well. This is especially true if your reception is scheduled for later in the evening.

The sun can quickly become a nuisance however, if you have not planned the seating correctly. Make sure the sun is at your guests' back or they will be unable to see you exchange your vows. You may also want to provide simple fans for your guests if the temperature will be extreme. For the older guests, you may want to rent a simple form of shelter if they are not able to sit for long periods in the sun.

One of the nicest aspects of an outdoor wedding is that you can use limited decorations. You can use only a few ornaments to accent the venue, as well as a few flowers. This can really cut the cost of your wedding, leaving more available for other areas, such as you honeymoon.

The reception can also be held outside and can feature some lighter food choices than a traditional reception. Make sure that food is kept cold that needs to be. You certainly don't want anyone getting sick. Choose flavorful sandwiches, light salads, and wonderful finger foods. Don't get too fancy. Summer weddings are perfect for the lighter side of life.

A great accent to an outdoor summer wedding is to arrive in a horse and carriage. Few things are more romantic and it will certainly provide a lovely beginning for the ceremony. You can also ride off into the sunset with your husband and begin your life together in style.

An outdoor summer venue for a wedding can be one of the most romantic places to celebrate your new life together. With a little advance planning, you can make sure your wedding goes off without any problems. Keep the plans simple and elegant. Choose lighter decorations and music, as well as fare for the reception. This will help present the image of an outdoor summer wedding that is envied by all.
