Lovely Wedding Favor Ideas For Fall Weddings

More and more couples these days are becoming very unique when it comes to their wedding. This is also one of the reasons why most weddings these days are theme-based. While they still be the same as traditional weddings before, many nuptials now do have a specific theme that can be truly romantic, funny, dreamy, and some are completely unique and different.

Weddings that are based on seasons are also very popular nowadays. Fall is one of the most favorite seasons of the year to get married, simply because of its romantic mood. When you are planning a fall themed wedding, you want to follow the same shades of color associated with the theme, from your wedding invitations to your wedding favors and decorations. Perhaps the main symbol of fall are the fallen leaves, which you can also use in many ways to your wedding.

If you are looking for lovely wedding favors for your fall wedding, choose favors in colors between dark brown, burnt orange, golden yellow, or red. One great idea also is to use varying shades in one item, or use multiple colors that complement each other.

There are many fall themed wedding favors to choose from, among them are small sachets of wildflower seeds. These wedding mementos are also perfect for green themed wedding. These are often inexpensive and you can have the packaging printed with your names and wedding date.

Candles are also great choices of wedding favors for a fall wedding. They add warmth and romantic feeling to the wedding reception. Candle wedding favors are available in different colors, shapes, and sizes. You can even purchased them in your favorite scent. Candle wedding favors are easy to decorate; as simple as tying a beautiful ribbon around them or placing them in a nice candle holder.

If you want something edible, why not consider cookie favors in cinnamon flavor? You can present your homemade cookies in small boxes, or wrap them in clear plastic wraps or foil wraps. To add a bit of accent, you can hang a tag that is attached to a ribbon or lace. The tag can be printed with you names and wedding date. If you can't make homemade cookie favors, there are many bakeries or bridal shops where you can order them in advance.

Fall favors are available year round. You don't have to go far because they can be ordered with just a few clicks of your mouse. Because of the Internet, most brides are enjoying their bridal shopping - less stress and hassle. Today, there are lots of online stores that carry a wide variety of wedding favors, whether you are looking for fall, winter, summer, or spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring wedding favors. Additionally, many of these online stores offer personalized ideas. For example, if you opt to personalized you candle wedding favors or edible favors, they can do the job for you. You can also spend less when shopping online because online products are cheaper that products sold at retail prices.

Pink and Black Wedding Style

Everyone knows that choosing the right color scheme will add style and elegance to a wedding. Some of the best color combinations pair a soft color with a bolder one. For a truly stylish wedding, check out what you can do with a wonderful pink and black color palette.

Pink and black make a striking pair. Pink is soft and ultra-feminine, where black is dark and sophisticated. When the two are put together, you get a high contrast and high style palette that will add instant flair to your wedding.

There are some great ways in which pink and black can be used for a wedding. One idea is to go with a retro 1950s theme. The color combination of pink and black was very popular in mid century fashion, and it can provide a really cool look for a wedding. Picture the bridesmaids in knee length pink satin strapless cocktail dresses with black tulle peeking out from the hem. Add a black sash at the waist with an oversized fabric flower for a lovely detail. Finish off their look with custom bridal jewelry made from pink Swarovski pearls and jet black crystals.

The style of a cool 1950s diner would be great for a pink and black wedding reception. Pink and black checked linens will look great for the tables. A very fun idea for the centerpieces would be to mound pink carnations in glossy opaque black vases. It is a great update on an inexpensive and abundant flower. Keep the place settings simple with clean mid-century modern flair.

Pink and black can also have a wonderful modern Victoriana flavor. This would be wonderful for a formal or evening wedding. Use motifs like intricate swirls, scrollwork, and brocade designs. A pink background with thin black scrolls would be an elegant and chic design around which to base your wedding. You could start by using it for the wedding invitations, and branch out from there.

There are some marvelous things you could do for wedding flowers with these colors. Any flower you could ever desire is available in pink. For the bridal bouquets, trim the flower stems with braided pink and black satin ribbons. Or add drama to an evening wedding by combining glamorous black feathers with pink flowers for centerpieces and bouquets.

The bride might want to consider bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ringing the color palette into her wedding attire. A traditional white gown could be customized to have pink and black embroidery around the neckline. Another idea would be to wear a pale, pale pink silk wedding gown with a black sash (which is very figure flattediamondrings-20" title="ring">ring). If you prefer the classic all white bridal gown, you can always introduce your wedding colors with custom pink and black bridal jewelry.

Your wedding cake is a perfect place to showcase your wedding colors and design scheme. A pink fondant cake can be decorated with black in a variety of gorgeous ways. One of the most elegant would be a modern damask pattern. For something more dainty, try tiny black Swiss dots on a pink cake. Trim each layer with a gum paste ribbon and "bow". You could even go preppy with a pink and black argyle cake.

Pink and black is a stylish and versatile color theme for a wedding. It will be easy to design a wedding that is chic and memorable in style. Have fun planning a marvelous wedding all done in shades of pink and black.

On the Green - A Guide to an Eco-Friendly Wedding

With the degradation of the world's ecosystem, people are putting more effort into going green by practicing better ways to sustain our planet. From recycled invitations to earth-friendly receptions, many couples are planning eco-friendly weddings. A green wedding will not only help save the planet, but it can also help you save money as well.

Here are some tips to make your wedding eco-friendly:

Paper chase
Minimizing the amount of paper used in your wedding stationery can have a huge environmental impact. There are few certified green printers. However, there are many wonderful choices when it comes to paper. For wedding invitations, select paper that has a high recycled content or is made from an alternative fiber, such as cotton or bamboo. While it is acceptable to send emails or E-vites for surrounding wedding events such as the bachelor and bachelorette party, it is important to mail your guests a paper wedding invitation.

Instead of giving each guest a wedding program, print one program per couple. We also recommend placing only one or two dinner menus at the table rather than placing a menu at every plate setting.

Create an organic menu
Ask your caterer to create an organic menu to ensure your food has not been exposed to pesticides. Choosing free-range meats and fish and local organic vegetable and fruit is healthier for you and your guests, the animals, and the environment. Organic meals are a fresh, delicious and economical way to make an eco-friendly statement. Depending on the time of day, you may want to serve hor d'oeuvres at your wedding rather than a full dinner or buffet. A hor d'oeuvre reception is appropriate between 11am and 5pm or after an evening wedding.

Instead of tossing those extra entrees into the trash, ask your caterer to send leftovers to a homeless or food rescue group. Many organizations pick up fresh, uneaten food and deliver it to local shelters and families in need. If food donation is not an option, ask to have the food composted.

Faux flowers
Flowers are a major component to every wedding. Talk to your florist about local organic blooms and explore how you can enhance your bouquet with greenery, herbs, and grains like wheat and millet. For centerpieces, consider using potted flowers, plants, or even small trees, which can later be replanted in your own garden or yard.

Fruit can also make lovely wedding centerpieces. Fruit is inexpensive, aromatic, and most importantly, edible. After the reception, the fruit can be divided and given to your guests or donated to a homeless shelter. You can bdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring happiness to the lives of others by donating your floral arrangements to a local hospital, nursing home, women's shelter, or any other organization that could use some brightening up.

Dim the lights
Candlelight is not only romantic, it is also energy efficient. Soy wax is a renewable and cost effective alternative to paraffin wax. Made from soybeans, soy candles come in various sizes, shapes, colors, and scents and are cleaner, longer burning, and more fragrant than regular wax candles.

The key to a stylish, eco-friendly wedding is simplicity. Choosing earth-friendly materials not only saves money, it saves resources as well.

3 Phoenix Wedding Ideas - Think Outside the Resort

Phoenix and its surrounding areas of Scottsdale and Carefree abound in award-winning resorts and spas in which to hold your wedding. But I'm not going to talk about any of them. Instead, this article focuses on thinking "outside the resort" for your Phoenix destination wedding. Think wildflowers, culture and zebras.

Desert Botanical Gardens

The Desert Botanical Gardens (1201 N. Galvin Parkway) is a lovely desert botanical garden located in red-rock Papago Park in North Central Phoenix. If you've never been to Papago Park, it's like a little mini Sedona in the middle of Phoenix. (Okay, at least, that's what it reminds me of) And the Desert Botanical Gardens is the perfect venue to experience the flavor and appeal of the desert. It might be obvious, but I'll state it anyway, you may want to skip this venue in the summer months. The spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring months would be perfect, however, as the desert blooms come to life. You can choose to have your ceremony in one of the courtyards or terraces, or in the Wildflower Pavilion. There is also a ballroom, Dorrance Hall, which can accommodate several hundred guests. Call 480-481-8109 for more information.

The Heard Museum

Located at 2301 N. Central Ave., the Heard Museum has been a Phoenix institution for more than 75 years. Encompassing more than 130,000 square feet of gallery and education space, the Heard Museum has one of the finest collections of Native American art and cultural exhibits. And, the exhibits aren't the only things worth seeing at the Heard; there's also the interesting architecture and grounds, which include arched walkways, brick patios and lovely courtyards, which serve as picturesque backdrops for your wedding photos. The Museum is available Sunday - Thursday, 6 to 10 PM, and Friday and Saturdays, 6 to 11 PM. The Wedding Facility Use Fee ranges from $2,500 to $4,000. Call 602-252-8840 for more information.

The Phoenix Zoo

That's right, the zoo. We are thinking outside the resort, remember? The Phoenix Zoo is located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway, close to the Desert Botanical Gardens, and offers numerous lovely settings for weddings from 5 to 10,000 guests. You can choose from a variety of settings, including a Columbian rainforest, Tropical Ramada, gardens, and The Stone House Pavilion, with a 90-foot wall-to-wall window, from which you can view the Papago Mountains at sunset. And, yes, you can also provide your guests with a sunset tour of the zoo on the Safari Train. Call 602-273-1341 for pricing and more information.

Resorts and spas are great, and the Phoenix area definitely has a lot of them. But, for something different, add these wedding venues to your short list.

Scandinavian Wedding Traditions

The countries of Scandinavia have some beautiful and unique wedding customs. A bride of Scandinavian descent may wish to add a few of this wonderful traditions to her own wedding. These are some of the rites and rituals that are found in weddings in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

Each Scandinavian country will have its own individual take on certain parts of a wedding, but they do share many features in common. One of the first things that all of the Scandinavian countries share is a trend towards very long engagements. Three or four years is not unusual, as it allows the couple plenty of time to get to know each other before making a lifelong commitment. In Scandinavia, a marriage is not just about the bride and groom, but also about the family they will have in the future, so it is considered very important to be sure of your choice in a spouse.

One custom that any bride would love to have in her wedding is the Scandinavian wedding crown. These beautiful crowns are symbols of innocence that are passed down through generations of brides. They are delicate and airy, yet still quite heavy as they are made of precious materials like sterling silver or gold. If you do not happen to have one of these spectacular crowns in your family tree, you can have one handcrafted just for you and start a new tradition that you can one day pass down to your own daughter.

The open and airy Scandinavian wedding crowns often have gems or charms hanging from them. In Norway, it is believed that the musical sound of the silver charms tinkling around the bride's crown will help to protect her from evil spirits. To accent the crown, choose handmade wedding jewelry that complements the gold and silver of the crown. If there are any colored gems on the crown, you may want to have your wedding jewelry created with crystals in a matching color.

Another widespread tradition in Scandinavia involves trees. In Denmark, an arch of pine branches called the Gates of Honor is created in front of the bride's home. The friends and family of Norwegian couples will plant a pair of pine trees by their front door as a symbol of fertility. Another fertility symbol is the diamondrings-20" title="ring">ring of motherhood, which is a gold band the groom gives to his bride along with her wedding band.

A lovely Scandinavian custom that you may enjoy in your own wedding is a bouquet of wildflowers and aromatic herbs. It is very common in Scandinavian nations for herbs like rosemary (for remembrance) to be included in the bride's bouquet. Another popular addition is soft silvery lamb's ear leaves. Tie it all up with a few pretty ribbons for the perfect natural Scandinavian bouquet.

Some of the other wedding customs of Scandinavia will sound very familiar to Americans. Danish newlyweds will both hold the knife to cut the first slice of wedding cake for good luck. In Sweden, the bride's parents will give her coins to put in her shoes to symbolize future wealth. This is quite similar to the last (sometimes forgotten) part of our "Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue", which is "and a sixpence in your shoe". Brides everywhere are all hoping to have happy and prosperous marriages.

The wedding customs of Scandinavia are lovely, and would be a very nice way to honor your heritage. Whether just the bride or groom hails from that part of the world or both do, it is always wonderful to add these types of personal touches to your wedding. You will find that many of the Scandinavian wedding traditions can do a lot to make your wedding feel even more special and meaningful.

Accent the Wedding With Orchids

Special events call for special flowers. There is hardly any event more special than a wedding, and what flower is more special than the orchid. A wedding is a celebration of the joining of two people for a new life together. In honor of the wedding and the bride and groom, it is important that everything about the wedding be as lovely as it can be. There is no better way to add a touch of special beauty than by using orchids.

The bridal bouquet is a central accent to the bride's wardrobe and using orchids for this will add a touch of sophistication. The glowing beauty of the bride as she prepares to embark on a new phase of life is reflected in the orchids she carries in her hand. The bridal bouquet generally features white flowers, to mirror the innocence of the bride and her wedding apparel. White orchids will be perfect in this role, although a pastel colored orchid might provide an element of contrast, and help the white look even more pure.

As most flowers have symbolic associations, a bouquet of orchids combined with other blossoms might make an even more memorable bouquet. Orchids, as they should be, are identified with beauty, making them completely appropriate for the bride to carry. If the wedding is held in the spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring, apple blossoms might be added to the orchids, as these delicate blooms symbolize good fortune and hope. Nestling the orchids and apple blossoms in baby's breath, for constancy, will create an absolutely lovely arrangement. A summer bride's bouquet could contain orchids and daisies, which stand for innocence. White chrysanthemums, which stand for truth, will definitely go well with orchids for an autumn wedding.

Many orchids are scented, and choosing a white or pastel orchid with a delicate scent for the bridal bouquet will certainly please any bride. It might be best to steer away from a strongly scented flower for the occasion of a wedding, it would be a mistake to overwhelm the bride's perfume with floral scents.

The bridesmaids are an integral part of any wedding, and the touch they add to the wedding can be further accentuated with orchid corsages. The colors can match the dresses that have been chosen for the bridesmaids, or can be white to tie in with the bride's dress and bouquet. It would be a mistake to neglect the mothers of the bride and groom, and they can be honored with an orchid corsage as well.

The centerpieces for the tables for the wedding feast should also be as beautiful as possible. This is an event that many people will remember for years, and even the details of the wedding, such as the centerpieces, are important. Eye-catching centerpieces composed at least in part of orchids will definitely make a lasting and positive impression on all who see them. It is also nice to know that orchids are fairly durable flowers, as long as they are not exposed to cold, and can stand up to long hours on the table without wilting or losing their appeal.

Save Money By Giving Flower Seeds As Wedding Favors

Using seed packets for wedding favors is a lovely idea and is very cost effective as well. You can present your wedding guests with seeds for annual flowers, perennials, trees, shrubs or even houseplants. The options are practically limitless.

Should you be having a theme that incorporates flowers, such as a daisy wedding theme, this makes choosing flower seed packets pretty easy. A nice idea would be to determine how many different varieties of a particular flower there is that you could hand out as favors, rather than using all of the same color or type. For a wedding that isn't focused on flowers as an actual theme, you could package your chosen seed types in themed containers instead. Here are a few examples:

Should you be having a beach/seashore wedding, choose flowers and shrub seeds that would normally grow near an ocean. Bayberry (bush), Sweet Pea (vine), or Rosemary (herb) are all good choices. Use miniature treasure chests, large sea shells, or beach themed favor bags or boxes to hold your seed packets.

Coneflower (Mexican Hat), Desert Baileya (Desert Marigold) or Purple Sage bushes are ideal for a Western theme wedding. Place the seed packets in miniature cowboy hats or boots, small colorful southwestern clay pots, or wrapped in gingham fabric.

Although Roses seem to be the first choice for a Valentine's Day, sweetheart or romantic theme, there are several other flower choices that are just as romantic. Try using forget-me-nots, orchids, Amaranth (Globe), Bell Flower or Sunflower. These are just a few of the flowers that are associated with meanings of romance, which you can include on your thank-you favor tags.

Weddings that are based on colors can also use seed packages that will grow flowers related to a particular color combination. For example, if you choose to have a white and black themed wedding, use pure white flower seeds packs placed in black velvet-like material bags. Purple and gold makes a stunning color combination and flower seeds such as violets, purple irises, or purple lilacs placed in gold-toned favor boxes would be ideal as favors.

When it comes to choosing what types of flower seeds you could give out as favors, the variety of ideas are endless. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and creativity. Hopefully the above ideas will provide you with some inspiration to come up with your own combination of wedding favors.

Fall Wedding Favor Ideas

With summer now upon us, those of you who are getting married in the fall will be turning your attentions to your wedding favors. Fall is a lovely time of year for a wedding and one which can offer much inspiration not only for wedding favors but for many other details of your wedding too.

If you are looking for some perfect fall wedding favors then here are a few ideas to help inspire you.

Edibles: I have to include the ever popular cookies here! Choose leaf shapes, pumpkins and other seasonal symbols. Also make your cookies in interesting 'seasonal' flavors like ginger, cinnamon and honey.

Choose some leaf shaped chocolates and /or candies which could be presented in a pretty box with a leaf shaped tag.

Toffee apples are also synonymous with fall and very easy to create yourself at home. Simply wrap them with some clear cellophane and attach your thank you tag with ribbon. Or make some bonfire toffee or mini parkin cakes.

Throughout the wedding favor stores you will find leaf shaped bottles of maple syrup, bottles of cider punch and pumpkin shaped brownie pops.

Candles: Aside from leaf shaped candles, look for votive or pillar candles with skeleton leaves wrapped around or embedded in them. Choose candles with seasonal scents to create a fall atmosphere. Present them in coordinating voile bags.

Leaf Shaped Items: The favor stores are full of fall inspired favors most of which feature leaves as the mainstay of the design. Choose from items such as bottle stoppers, bookmarks and coasters. All of these will usually come with coordinating packaging.

DIY: Aside from making your own cookies, you could make other fall inspired wedding favors such as mini recipe books featudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring some seasonal favorites like pumpkin soup, blackberry pie and spiced apple sauce. Alternatively write out recipes on single sheets of parchment style paper and roll them up like scrolls. Choose several different recipes and make sure couples each receive a different recipe.

If you are the poetic type then why not write a fall inspired love poem and present it in much the same way as the recipes - scroll fashion.

Take some photographs of the changing colors of the trees and have them made into fridge magnets. One idea is to spell out the words 'Thank You' with fallen leaves and take your photograph, alternatively use a little creative photo editing to add the words to your photograph before having them made into magnets. You can have these made through printers and online sites or buy the magnet kits and put them together yourself.

Give your guests some seeds for seasonal plants or flowers. These look lovely presented in small tins or inside pretty paper packets which you can easily make yourself. Another idea is seasonal flower bulbs which you could give inside a nice box along with the growing instructions.

Fall is a visually stunning season which is full of vibrant colors as summer ends and winter looms near. Reflect all the colors of fall in your wedding favors to ensure the beauty of the season is not lost on your guests.

Shades of Blue - Gorgeous Wedding Colors For 2009

The language of blue is rich and varied. From the very dark to the very light, you can convey whatever you want in shades of this color. This year, any hue is acceptable for accents and accessories. You can begin by sending out beautiful aqua wedding invitations, accent with an aquamarine diamondrings-20" title="ring">ring pillow and flower girl basket, walk down the aisle with a cobalt panel hidden in the back of your white wedding dress, and end with lovely teal tablecloths and linens at your reception. But before you choose, consider the feel you are trying to create:

1. Sophisticated Elegance: Royal blues were named that for a reason--they embody a regal feel. if you are having an evening, formal wedding, consider royal or sapphire for your accent colors. Deep royal or sapphire blue make wonderful bridesmaids dresses as almost everyone looks gorgeous in this color. Plus, it really sets off the bridal gown beautifully. You can also give reign to your imagination with large, lush flower arrangements in a variety of blues.

2. Formal Refinement: The darker, more navy blues have a beautiful, clean-lined feel to them. Although black is one of the most popular colors this year, some people feel uncomfortable with black accents at a wedding - navy or indigo is a stylish alternative. These colors are perfect for a graceful, sit-down dinner reception.

3. Beach Celebrations: For destination or casual beach weddings, nothing captures the "feel" more than aqua or variations of blue-green. To heighten the anticipation, begin by using Aqua Shimmer paper for your wedding invitations. Shimmer paper captures the light and "shimmers" like sunlight on the ocean. Aquamarine bridesmaids dresses also give the right touch of joyfulness to the wedding party. And round out your theme
with aqua and flame orange tablecloths, linens and centerpieces.

4. Afternoon Delight: For lovely afternoon weddings, consider the lighter shades of blue. Light blue printable wedding invitations, bridesmaids dresses, and wedding accessories all confer a glowing and spacious feel to your celebration.

So, think Blue for your wedding this year and know that whatever "feel" you are trying to create, there is a perfect shade of this color for you.

Picking Summer Wedding Flowers

The summer bride is lucky - summer wedding flowers are as varied and vibrant as the rainbow, so choosing the blooms for your bouquet and other wedding flowers is truly an adventure. Summer is when most of the traditional, romantic flowers such as roses are in bloom, as well as a grand assortment of tropical flowers from around the world. The most difficult part of picking flowers may be narrowing down your choices!

Most summer weddings call for bright, vibrantly colored flowers rather than pastels, which are usually the most popular at spdiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring weddings. Your personal preference and the colors you've chosen for your wedding party and the decor should, however, be the most important considerations when choosing your flowers.

Casual or Formal Summer Wedding Flowers?

Will you be getting married on the beach, in a garden or in a cathedral? Will the wedding be in the evening or afternoon? All of these factors will influence your choice of flowers. More informal, afternoon weddings can be accented by an array of wildflowers and bold, cheerful bouquets containing daisies, sunflowers, Queen Anne's lace and other hardy blossoms. Generally, a wildflower bouquet will have a mix of several different flowers, but you may want to select one as the feature flower. Hydrangeas are lovely for country or garden weddings, as are sweet peas and snapdragons.

For a more formal bouquet, you'll want to focus on just one or two flowers that can be showcased for their elegance. The most traditional summer wedding flowers have always been roses, and in the hot months of summer you can find them in every color imaginable from deep crimson to pure white. Unusual shades such as orange and lavender are gaining popularity with many brides. Also traditional in many bridal bouquets are flowers such as stephanotis and freesia, both of which are popular for their rich scents as well as their beauty.

Lilies are also considered very formal flowers. One of the most stunning formal wedding bouquets you can have is an arrangement with nothing but calla lilies. These sleek, simple flowers have a modern elegance that is ideal with a more contemporary wedding gown. In fact, a bouquet that features just one flower of any kind, such as roses all in one color, is quite elegant.

If you want your summer wedding flowers to be truly stunning, consider going with tropical blooms such as rare orchids, ranunculus or peonies. These flowers can add exotic appeal to your floral arrangements.

Colors for Summer Wedding Flowers

Coordinating your flowers to the key colors of the wedding party and your décor is always the first step. After that, you'll be able to find an impressive selection of flowers in almost any color dudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring the summer months.

You can choose a few different colors for bright, high contrast bouquets or if you have two colors you wish to highlight equally. For instance, red roses with a selection of white flowers or an arrangement that features the soft green of cymbidium orchids with orange calla lilies both feature contrast.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you may decide you want your flowers to be monochromatic, featudiamondrings-20" title="ring">ring various shades of one color. Both purples and blues are wonderful choices if you want a bouquet that has an array of shades. Purple roses, anemones and blue hydrangea combine for a mix that goes from pale blue to deep purple in stunning fashion.

The most traditional summer wedding flowers, as they are for all seasons, are pure white or ivory bouquets for the bride herself, while the bridesmaids can carry bouquets with a touch of color to coordinate. If you choose white or ivory summer wedding flowers, the choice of blooms is virtually unlimited. To add some definition, remember to add a bit of greenery for depth.
